ARTWORK > DO NOT DISTURB

Do Not Disturb was created as part of NO VACANCY | Miami Beach, an initiative of the City of Miami Beach pairing 10 artists with 10 South Beach hotels for a reimagined (read: covid-era) 2020 Miami Art Week. It is on-view from Dec 2-12, 2020 at The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club, 1732 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach.

For Do Not Disturb, Kell presents a collection of paintings made on and from the surfaces of mattresses and related bedding materials. Responding to the architectural opportunities and limitations, the work at The Catalina Hotel plays with the bed as a site of intimacy, tension, and mediation that sits at the intersections of private and public, natural and cultural, glamorous and trashy.
