Threadbare was made in 2013 for Dreams Before Sleeping, a sprawling exhibition within an empty furniture warehouse in Newark, NJ. For this installation, the motif of the stain re-emerges as a way to communicate the sense of age and aura that this unique building and objects impressed on me. The more illusionistic quality of this installation is a result of tedious color mixing and hand-painting for each surface involved.

This exhibition was curated by Evonne Davis & Jacob Mandel, in conjunction with Gallery Aferro, a non-profit contemporary art gallery that's located just a few doors west of this location.
